What does Psychometric mean?

The word Psychometric comes from psycho-logy + metric, or measurement.  It means to measure psychological things, like cognitive skills or personality traits, in a precise, formalised way.

At its most formal psychometrics involves a lot of statistics.  Psychometric principles (without the statistics) are also used to ensure, for example, that surveys are designed and implemented in a manner likely to elicit accurate, meaningful answers.
